Effects of tumors on nucleic acids and their purine constituents in the mouse.

چکیده
The nucleic acid content of growing normal and pathological tissues has been a subject of interest in recent years. Several investigators (l-7) have studied nucleic acid changes during embryonic development. It is a well established fact that rapidly growing embryonic tissue has a high concentration of nucleic acid. This was recently extended by Reddy and Cerecedo (S), who observed that gestation in the mouse is accompanied by an increase in the nucleic acid concentration in the liver, lung, and kidney of the parent animal. A good deal of attention has also been directed to the part played by nucleic acids in neoplastic growth. Several investigators (9-13) have presented evidence indicating a high nucleic acid content for tumor tissues. The present investigation is an extension of the work of Reddy and Cerecedo (14), who have shown that there is an increase in the nucleic acid content of liver, kidney, and lung of mice bearing a transplantable sarcoma.

Modulation of radiation induced changes in nucleic acid content of liver of Swiss albino mouse by Tinospora cordifolia (Miers)
Background: Radiotherapy is the main modality of cancer treatment. There are many chemical radioprotectors which unfortunately have lethal or toxic effect. Therefore the search is on to find out natural plant based radioprotectors. A well known medicinal plant, which is more acceptable to the body, Tinospora cordifolia, was tested in animal tissues against gamma radiations. Radioprotectiv...

Background & Objectives: Antisense peptide nucleic acids (PNA) that target growth essential genes show potent bactericidal properties without cell lysis. We considered the possibility that whether PNA treatment influence the bacteria total nucleic acids content and apply approach to develop a new delivery system to Dendritic cells (DCs). DCs are the most potent antigen presenting cells in th...

utilization patterns of hamsters and rats bearing human neoplasms. These studies showed that, in sofar as the synthesis of the purine moiety of their nucleic acids is concerned, these tumors possess distinctive characteristics as compared with the host tissues. In the synthesis of the nucleic acids, the neoplastic tissue used guanine and hypoxan thine inefficiently as compared with the host, bu...

phenyl phenanthridinium bromide) has been shown to inhibit completely the incorporation of preformed purines into the nucleic acids of Ehrlich ascites carcinoma cells, but the drug does not ap preciably inhibit the incorporation of radioactive glycine into nucleic acids or proteins (4). These studies have been interpreted in terms of disrup tion of the normal relationship between intracellu lar...
